M96 Short Rail
The M96 Short Rail is used primarily for red dot type sights or optical sights with a long eye relief.. The original rear sight of the rifle is left in place while the short rail may be placed in two different positions as shown in the images which follow.
The M96 Short Rail is machined from Aircraft Aluminum and is hard anodized. It is made to the Picatinny Rail Specifications. The advantage of the short rail system is that it is small and lightweight. If the red dot sight or optical sight is broken or the battery dies, the sight may be quickly removed, allowing the operator to continue using the rifle with the iron sights.
